Hazing Policy

ANTI-HAZING STATEMENT

A.     All acts of hazing or harassment, both physical and mental, shall be expressly prohibited.
B.     A Man will not be subject to any act of hazing or harassment in connection with or during his initiation into membership in the Fraternity
C.     The Fraternity does not consent to, condone, acquiesce in or tolerate any act of hazing, harassment or humiliation in the Membership intake Programs, nor will the Fraternity be responsible or liable for any damages, claims or actions based upon the conduct of any individuals, groups or associations purporting to perform any acts in the name of the Fraternity or purported to be in any way connected with initiation into membership in the Fraternity.
D. A Man otherwise qualified for membership will not be denied membership into the Fraternity solely by reason of being related to a member of the Fraternity.

E.     Penalties:
1.     Any chapter violating any of the above delineated paragraphs will be penalized by:
i.     Denial of Membership intake by the National Secretary with approval of the National President and the National Executive Board, or by the National President with approval of the National Executive Boards, or
ii.     Suspension by the National Office with approval of the National President and the National Executive Board, or by the National President with approval of the National Executive Board.
1    Suspensions and/or denials of Membership intake will be reported to the National Executive Board via the National Office.
2    POLICIES REGARDING HAZING, ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE Each violation is subject to fines, as detailed in the Code of Conduct, per member, in addition to personal suspension from the fraternity you will be banned from all fraternity activities.

DELTA BETA LAMBDA FRATERNITY INC.

“It is not sufficient to declare that Deltas Beta Lambda Fraternity is opposed to any acts of harassment or violence during the Membership Intake Program or in the conduct of Fraternity business.  Delta Beta Lambda Fraternity Inc. must assume an affirmative action program that integrates the basic tenets of the individual value and the worth of each member into every facet of Fraternity life.
Delta’s Policy Re: Alcohol and Drug Abuse
“Alcohol and drug abuse have been proven to be physically and psychologically damaging to the individual.  Delta Beta Lambda Fraternity, Inc. has promoted projects and programs to educate the public to the dangers of excessive usage and has supported programs designed to rehabilitate persons addicted to their use.
Alcohol and drug use in conjunction with membership and other procedures in Delta Beta Lambda will not be tolerated. Chapters are encouraged to continue to educate themselves on the consequences of alcohol and drug abuse and to establish a moral climate in the Fraternity that would discourage misuse”

NOTE: The problem is so serious that many cities and states (and consequently, colleges and universities, are issuing brochures, etc) have enacted laws regarding possession and consumption of alcohol and beverages, changes in drinking age, etc. for the general populace that also have a direct influence on fraternities and sororities, and the type of social activities approved by the college/university officials are constantly reassessed. Individuals and/or chapters that violate the fore stated policy will be subject to disciplinary action, as defined in the National Office Constitution and Bylaws, and the organization’s Code of Conduct, as amended April 2009
